God Made Us Vegetarian, We Made Ourselves Meat Eaters
That is right. God told me the following three things:
- He made human beings as vegetarians.
- Unfortunately, the human race became too intelligent for its own good and turned into meat eaters.
- Eventually, this more than necessary intelligence is what will one day bring about the downfall of the infallible and arrogant homo sapiens.
I asked Him how He can say so surely that He made us as vegetarians. After all it was a few hundred thousand years ago that He created humans. I am sure He did not keep record of the design that he used to make us. And in His old age He might be getting a little forgetful.
In reply He told me something very interesting. He said, “I do not keep design of any living being that I create. All living beings are created as single piece. And even I do not have the power to recreate them, if they drive themselves to extinction because I do not keep the formula!”
So I asked Him again, “How are you so sure that you made us vegetarians. You have yourself admitted that you can’t refer to any design or product development paper. May be you have forgotten.”
He smiled at my innocence and said, “Hey, I made you guys. Credit me with intelligence as much as you guys, if not more! When I created living creatures, I followed some key design principles when working out the various functions to be performed by the body parts. With regards to the eating habits of creatures, I followed three principles:
The Acquisition Principle: This design principle means that an adult living being should be able to catch its food on its own without any external help. To catch the food means that you are able to put you hands on the item that you want to eat. Example, a lion is able to capture the deer that it wants to kill and you are able to hold the apple you want to eat. Now, when a lion catches a deer, it does not make use of weapons, ropes, or other such lion-made implements – rather it uses its own strength to run as fast as possible and finally overtake the prey and catch it in its own paws. Human beings can acquire only plant based food in this manner. You cannot catch an animal, bird or fish yourself, without making use of man-made implements. Human beings either do not have speed or the strength or both to catch a meat producing food – consistently. It is not possible for a human or even a pack of humans (unlike a pack of wolves or dogs) to chase an animal (however big or small), overtake it and then pounce on it with speed and agility to catch hold of it – day after day through out their lives. They are not designed for this task.
The Disarticulation Principle: By this design principle, it is meant that the predator (creature that intends to eat) should be able to kill the prey (what is intended to be eaten) on its own without any outside help. Again, as an example let’s take the case of a lion catching a deer: once the deer is caught by the lion, he does not look around for a knife or some such thing to kill the deer. The lion uses his brute strength and kills the deer with his jaws and paws. Same is the case with all the other meat eating animals who hunt. They catch the prey and then kill it with their own bare hands, pangs, teeth or whatever body part they are meant to use. Now take the case of the human beings. Even if they are able to catch hold of an animal by some sheer luck on a good day, they will not be able to kill the animal with their own hands – unless the animal is really small, say a bird or a chick. Can you visualize a man killing a buffalo or a pig with his own hands? And how many such men would be able to do this in a population of over 6 billion people on this planet at this moment? Not many. The point that I am trying to make is that human beings are not designed to catch and kill animals – naturally.
The Consumption Principle: This means that once the prey has been acquired and disarticulated, the predator should be able to consume (eat) the prey without any outside value addition. A lion is able to cut the deer with his own teeth and claws, take a bite of the flesh with his teeth and is able to chew the hard flesh with his teeth backed by super-strong jaws. Their canines are long, sharp and pointed to tear the flesh. Same is the case with all other meat eating animals – irrespective of whether they hunt or scavenge. Now take the poor man. Can he cut the animal’s flesh with his teeth? He is not provided with the technology – long, sharp and pointed canines are replaced with short and blunt ones. Also the human jaw is not really strong enough to tear and chew animal flesh.
He gave me a long and hard look. And then continued,”the human design is a vegetarian design. Man started eating meat when he discovered fire and invented implements. These two helped him do what he was otherwise not designed to do. Man is going against nature and he will eventually pay for it.
“Man must realize that it is not sinful to kill for food. But it definitely is sinful to go against nature and try to become what he is not designed for. And you should know that
“You are intelligent. You have made great progress and incredible inventions. And you know very well that any usage of a product beyond the design limits, results in the failure of the product. So beware and be warned!”

I liked! So clear and positive. Keep it up!!
Very good reasons for being vegetarian.
1.Even our digestive system is NOT designed for Flesh digesting
2. There are arguements that LORD JESUS multiplied Fish & Bread. Is there any reason for Fish mention by the LORD GOD.
Ramani
I say why bring God in between, instead use our own brains and leave others to use theirs. I am a veggie by choice, I do not use religion or God’s wish as reason, I decided to be what I wanted to be, period.
Hi, Jayesh
Thanks for your observation. I think the use of the word “God” was meant to bring out the fact that by design we are vegetarians – nature made us that way. If you would take some time out to go through the blog, you will find that I think like you – I do not believe that God, religion etc are reasons to be vegetarians. Having said that, there has to be “some” reason why one chooses to have a certain belief. If you decided to be a vegetarian, you must have had some reason! In my case the reason is that being a vegetarian is good for the planet – environmentally it is the best that we can give to the “mother” earth.

Sanjeev
Thanks Ramani for your comments. I think the only reason I can think of Lord Jesus mentioning fish is the fact that he himself ate fish.
Nature has evolved so has the nuture capabilities of planet earth, with food shortage in the imminent future, man has evolved into a an animal-eater…
laws of nature— it might evolve where we as a generation mght not be able to perceive, lets just go with the flow and pay fortunes on caviar shall we?
hey veggies,
dont be a hyppocrite.if you are so concerned stop drinking milk and eating cheese/butter as milk is non -veg and is meant for calves and not for human beings.if you want to see how cows are treated ,go to a dairy farm and see how the machines suck out milk from udders till the blood starts oozing out from the udders.if you stoop drinking milk then there will be lesser cows on this planet and people will automatically become vegetarians .
Hey Naughty Boy,
Thy name is quite appropriate! On a more serious note I would like to say the following:
1. You do not seem to have gone through the blog properly. I am a lacto-vegetarain : One who consumes dairy but not meat.
2. The premise that I am presenting is that it is the nature of the creation that every living thing lives on another living thing. And therefore one cannot point a finger at a meat eater and say that you are killing an animal for food. Plants feed off organic matter and animals feed off plants or animals – both living beings.
3. So there is no hypocrisy because at no point have I said that eating meat should be stopped because you are killing animals – that is a negative reason as per me.
4. The only reason why we must be vegetarians is becasue of the environment.
5. The number of cows will not reduce if one stops to drink milk. One cow who continues to live gives milk that can be consumed by a family for years together. So you need only one cow for the family. On the other hand a family that eats cow will need a cow every second day. So while a family that drinks milk will need only one cow for a year, but a family that eats cow will probably need more than 100 cows in a year!!!
Sanjeev
Hi Anj,
Man became meat eater long log before the shortage of food hit the earth. In fact shortage of food is a direct result of man becoming meat eater.
Sanjeev
The article is really funny! The discussion or argument after each remark is even hillarious. Tell me one thing, The whole issue revolves around certain designing principles and restriction of using External factors to procure your food. So lets see if god wished us to eat wheat or rice as one of our staple food.I have never seen a natural wheat or rice field.Man had to learn and use various external factors including tools to grow them. Are we designed to harvest the crop with bare hands???? I am certainly not so gifted. And are we designed in such a manner that after manually hushing the wheat or polishing the rice without using any external factors,we can eat them raw. Please if you try such stunt, doctor ( again a creation from human intellegence) will have to use various EXTERNAL FACTORS to repaire your stomach first and then the brain.Sanjeev I respect your personal choice, but stop this senseless propaganda. Vulture doesnot qualify in any of your designing principle but still eats meat.Be happy that nature has made us such complex yet intelligent creatures and respect others choice of how and what one should eat.
Thanks Abhikendu for your comments / feedback. This deserves a full article in reply. See my next post for the same.

We get swine flu, bird flu, mad cow wat else?
Hello,
Do keep up your work — it’s heartening to see someone take the trouble to think about what should be and what is. But I must introduce my conception of why vegetarianism, why not animals, and why plants:
1. “What is natural” is not a good argument because we aren’t leading natural lives anyway. For example, clothes. Do we have the ability to, “without external help,” weave the clothes we wear? If a pig must be killed with an implement, remember that we use implements for our clothing and shelter, for our thought and entertainment, indeed, for everything. Your argument would mean that we should live exactly like savages. Do you write your articles “without external help”? (Not to be rude, but to shake you to the meaning of what you’re saying.)
2. If uncivilised men kill, say, hens with their bare hands and eat them and feel no guilt because they are savage, it is 100.00% natural, and I don’t think anyone can argue that they “shouldn’t” be killing the hens.
3. Most important: when you farm animals to kill it, *you are negating life, and thus the purpose of the universe.* The universe is struggling to become self-aware, and this manifests in the gradual evolution to man. When man turns living beings into mere molecules, it is the antithesis of the universe; he is going in *exactly* the opposite direction of the universe — in other words, if you believe in god etc., then if god is doing plus-x, the butcher is doing minus-x. That is the be-all and end-all of it.
–von Neumann
Hi Von Neumann
Thanks for your comments. I do agree that there are a lot of things that we do are not natural, but still I believe that one of the two reasons for being a vegetarian is the human design. The points that you have raised were raised by one more reader and I have answered them in my next post.
Also I do not really think it would be possible for any man to cut a hen with his bare hands and chew the meat raw. May be one or two can do that, but the entire tribe will not be able to do so and that is because no man – civilised or uncivilsed is really designed to eat meat.
Finally, I would like to state here that I saw your blog at http://www.wolfenmann.com and loved the post titled “I shall eat meat.” I think you should write more of those. That is a great article and I can really use some of the points mentioned there.

Sanjeev
What a load of shit!
Humans have a mouth full of teeth that are designed for biting, cutting, chewing… MEAT
If man was made not to eat meat then God wouldn’t have made such tasty animals.
There’s something special about a nice hot juicy steak done Medium Rare and a nice Merlot to cleanse the pallet
What about those defenseless carrots. Poor bastards never had a chance.
You are right Jack. There’s something special about a nice hot juicy steak done Medium Rare and a nice Merlot to cleanse the pallet. But I would suggest that you try a juicy piece of beef without cooking it and then do tell if you liked it. A lion would like it because he can and you will not because you cannot. Got the difference? And the same juicy steak that you are talking about is as defenseless as the poor bastard of a carrot – just as you would be when the lion will be roaring and you would be running!! And the lion will not need a nice merlot to cleanse you down his pallet. That is the difference between someone who is meant to eat meat and one who is not!!!
Jack: And with regards to man having teeth to cut, bite and chew …meat, do let me know when was the least time you cut, bit and chewed raw lamb or beef. You can cut, bite and chew raw vegetables, but you cannot do that with meat. And just as you think that if If man was made not to eat meat then God wouldn’t have made such tasty animals, I am sure the beasts of the jungle too think the same – If we were not made to eat humans, God would not have made them!! If God meant us to eat animals, he would have given us what he gave the lions and others – strentgh, speed, jaws, claws, paws, strong canines ….
hi sanjeev,
i really liked ur comments infact i got good points as to y i beliv to b veggie..infact i wud like to share some of my experience in australia. My aussie frnz wr asking me , how do u survive if u dont eat meat n thn i introduced some great veggie food available at iskcon temple and some of my frnz bcame veggie.
Keep posting articles n comments ,

Hi Sanjeev,
At the cost of giving you more propoganda (which is your sole objective it seems) I am writing this. Firstly, what is this whole fight about animals being living beings and plants not, so cruelty etc. what kind of logic is that? Secondly, in your articles there is a mention of EVOLUTION, wonder what it means. I feel it means some species are smart and evolve and along with that their characteristics evolve. So if over a period of 100 thousand years humans evolved to start eating meat, then that’s nature for you. You mean to say you should have a bigger say than nature? Thirdly, as rightly said by Akhilendu, don’t give us all these humbug about Acquisition, Disarticulation and Consumption (fancy words though) Acquisition, Disarticulation – will you stop eating cereals, pulses Consumption – will you stop cooking your food? or stop eating all those items that need to be cooked before they are eaten.
Try eating raw rice or wheat or any of the pulses and you are sure to have an upset stomach (just like the lion when he is fed grass – deja vu??). Well, God is a great friend of mine too. He told me I was supposed to have the milk of my mother only. That was his original design. But unfortunately, his design also included brains for man. The sucker that man is, started sucking the milk of, cow, buffalo, goat, camel and then not only for drinking! (Acquisition???). When was the last time any of us sucked milk out of the udders of a cow??
Man take a chill pill. And let nature take its course. Being a veggie or non-veggie is a matter of choice only because man has got an advanced brain (unlike other animals). Its the brain because of which you have this PC and the keyboard in front of you, and you are able to debate on it. Had it not been for the brain, man would have evolved in the 100 thousand years and would eat whatever they evolved into, AND WOULD NOT DEBATE. Chill man. We have got your POV. Take rest.
Hi Biswas,
1. First of all my many thanks for having taken the time to have read the article and posted your comments.
2. I have replied to your comments in my new post –
Is Our Advanced Brain A Justification For All Our Actions?
Biswas, let nature take its course. Nothing unnatural went on in the creation of this webpage. Why not let it be without adding a comment of yours?
Drunk people usually declare they aren’t drunk. Worked-up people often say “chill.”
Action-and-reaction never fails to surprise and amuse.
I am not a thief; if a burglar were to tell me it’s silly to work… “Look at me! I just take stuff!” — I wouldn’t react. (I’d sort of think he was weird.)
I am a smoker. If an ex-smoker lists reasons to quit, I somehow feel like defending myself. Silly.
For some reason, many carnivores feel a need to react when they see a page or article like this one. I really wonder what that reason is.
Hahaha! Mr Biswas needs to take a holiday and eat a lot of chicken drumsticks.. he sounds really frustrated

Sanjeev.. good article! There will always be a battalion of meat eaters ready to cudgel you, but your efforts to create awareness about vegetarianism are worth appreciating!
WOw !!! This is such a very well written article !! Althogh I knew the things written in this article but yet, it was so very interesting to read it because of the way it is written.
finally i found this topic, thank you.
And, i agree with you. God made us vegetarian
