Now we need to get serious. Last time we talked about Love and being a vegetarian. This time I would like to talk about the second negative reason for being a vegetarian – Health.
I have done a fair amount of research on the internet and otherwise and summary of all comments that I have read or heard are:
More and more people are dying from diseases that are directly tied to their eating habits. Studies have shown that a vegetarian diet is healthier than a non-vegetarian diet. Vegetarians live longer than non-vegetarians. You

Though I became a vegetarian to start with because I fell in love with a vegetarian woman (I am a Vegetarian by Choice), I think it is a negative reason to become a vegetarian because:
It does not pass the test of Universal Truth: It can be used to argue a case both for and against the cause of vegetarianism

This website is about being a Vegetarian by Choice. I have also stated in my earlier posts that I am a Vegetarian by choice. In my first post – I am a Vegetarian by Choice – I have mentioned that for the first 29 years of my life, I used to eat meat but later became a vegetarian because I met a woman I wanted to marry and she was a vegetarian. I have remained a vegetarian after that (now it is almost 16 years since

Lacto Vegetarians are vegetarians who do not eat flesh or eggs of any kind – animal, fish or bird. I think I should have made this post before I wrote about Vegans. However, as they say better late than never. So here it goes.
Vegetarianism is not a religion, but a way of life. However, like Hinduism, Christianity, Islam or other religions of the world, Vegetarianism too has many shades. They come in as many flavors as there are cuisines.
We will first try to understand the various types of vegetarians that walk the earth. We will also try to understand their likes, dislikes and if possible their motivations.

The word Vegan was coined by “The Vegan Society” in its Memorandum of Association when it was founded in United Kingdom by Donald Watson on November 1, 1944. In the Memorandum the word “veganism” denotes a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude — as far as is possible and practical — all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes

I am a Vegetarian – By choice. Are You?
That is right. I am a VEGETARIAN. The kind of vegetarian that you have in India – a Lacto Vegetarian – one who does not eat meat and eggs in any form but also one who has no qualms about consuming dairy products.
I became a vegetarian because I fell in love with a vegetarian lady! That was 16 years ago. I continue to be a vegetarian even now because:
1. I still love and live
